Post

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE and it just died on me.

I have changed the starter and ingnition switch, the battery is reading 12.45V and still nothing. There is no clicking under the hood and the dash light flicker and click before all the gauges drop south.

The car doesn't have a anti theft relay 1, but it does have an antitheft relay 3! The fuses are not blown and the fuseable link for the ingnition is 40 amp not the 30 amp in the gen 1 Altima.

Maybe someone can give me some hints where to look next (or help me find the inhibitor switch that HAYNES mentions but ddoes not show) I would be greatly appreciative.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Welcome!

Were there any symptoms before the car died and what were was happening when the car died? If your positive that the battery is good then I would check the alternator. It tends to make your car do funny things like light flickers, inactive electronic components etc.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Oops, I should have stated in my original post that the follwing have been installed in the last 3 months.

1. New alternator2. New Battery

Note: Battery cables are crusty looking.

Lights, radio, etc work so I'm assuming that the battery is good.

I've cleaned the battery terminals off and rechecked their connections. I do not know if there were any electrical gremins with the car as I'm not the primary driver and I only get information when she get's in and it does not drive or "sounds funny". It is my job to do the washes, oil changes, etc.

Thanks again.
