Well New starter new issues tried to start it at Walmart and the same thing happens Lights dim down and it clicks. But! There is a new symptom, This time The negative cable sparked and my whole truck died. I managed to kick start it and drove home but half way home..Electrical system dies then comes back on...

Check the grounds sounds like bad connection on ground to frame

If the ground on the battery sparked then it sounds like a bad battery connection. If you move it around everything should come back on. If lights are dimming and it's clicking, you may have a constant drain on the battery somewhere that is killing it. Make sure things like your brake lights aren't staying on..

if the ground is arcing when you go to connect it there is a draw on the battery system. the bigger the arc the more draw. should only be a very little one if you have a radio with clock or something like that, otherwise should be no arc, find the sourse of the draw on battery should solve prob.

Okay Ripped the old Battery cables out. The negative was so frayed it was sparking on the side of the engine and the positive fell apart when i took it off the battery. but Auto zone says new starter is dead so putting new cables in soon but i have to wait for a starter

Man sorry it killed new starter but sounds like you found the problem in the wires.

Sounds like the cable was on its way out anyway. I agree with the arc thing though, didn't think about it but it makes sense.

Took it to a Napa parts store and had them install one...They cross threaded the top bolt halfway in and the bottom one looks good... Can it still run with the cross threaded top bolt?

When this kind of problem occurred in your vehicle there are two possible causes. It’s either something that involve your battery or something that involve your starter.

You really want a good connection and if it is cross threaded it is not good make them replace and redo it.

If you're getting intermittent clicking, it means there's not enough battery juice to spin the starter, either due to a dying battery or insufficient connections. If the battery is good, another cause can be corrosion - that white flaky crap on the battery connections. It can also get down inside the cable insulation and rot through the wires. A loose ground explains the sudden dying. Follow your battery cable down to the frame and ensure the connection is tight and clean.

On the spark from the negative cable, are you certain you don't have anything crossed? Look for stripped/chaffed wires going to the positive side that may be making contact with the body or frame - that'll 'complete the circuit' and cause arcing.

Good luck.

Sometimes when you take the starter off it needs to be cleaned where it mates on to the engine thats the ground and if not properly cleaned can cause a bad ground.Tony
