Soooo I'm 95% done my heater core replacement, I just have to put the radio back in and the seats and a few trim pieces. I tried starting it up but I didn't even get clicking from the starter. All the indicator lights light up and I clearly hear the fuel pump priming, but it won't even crank. I did reconnect the negative battery cable (only finger tight) and I'm positive I reconnected all the electrical connectors. I didn't disconnect the steering wheel at any point so the ignition switch itself was never touched.

I also haven't checked the battery voltage yet but its literally only a few weeks old.

Any ideas?? :wtf2:

Could have died from sitting while you were replacing the core. Also, My negative terminal had to be tight before mine started. It was mostly tight and just made the rapidfire click noise, so Finger tight negative might be keeping it from doing anything.

Yeah I'll make sure to tighten that down and check the voltage. Hopefully I'm just overreacting

Make sure you didn't pop any fuses while you were under the dash. I'm pretty sure its something simple.

When you replaced the heater core, did you mess with anything in the engine bay to get to the heater hoses?

Also make sure alarm isn't engaged, that will cause what you are describing. Do the lights dim when you turn the key over?

Not sure yet nissanfreak I only tried twice before running inside to get warm lol when I get home tomorrow morning I'll check everything out and see what happens.

If it was the alarm, would the security light flash while I'm trying to start it? Or stay solid?

Should be off. Try putting the key in the door and turning it to the unlock direction. Some stuff sometimes gets screwy with the battery disconnected, and the alarm would keep it from starting.

Ok so I got home today and tried starting it up again, this time with the battery cable tight. Still nothing. I disconnected the security unit and tried again, nothing.

So I'm thinking WTF did I do wrong?!

Anyone wanna guess why it wouldn't start?? (hint: it's the simple stuff)

The shifter wasn't in park

While I was removed stuff from the dash I had moved the shifter all the way back and I guess when I moved it back to park I really only moved it to reverse.

One of those "DOH!" moments
