Hello Everybody,I recently purchased a 1985 300zx non turbo 5 speed. the car had been stolen, having the ignition switch and steering wheel lock removed and destroyed. I hooked up a switch and button start system from the remaining wires(5).

I hooked up ACC, IGN, and (+) to a switch, and(+) and START. There is one wire(black with green stripe) that goes into the ignition switch harness(switch side) but does not have a corrosponding opposite(on the broken ignition switch contact plate its marked as "R")its not hooked up..

I now have all accessory lights, instrument lights, and a working starter.

One thing I notice, is in the on position, the battery dummy light does not light up. All others do.

Now fuel pump does not start, after bench testing, fuel pump is good.

Swapped ignition coil and ignition control module(ignitor?) into working 300zx, parts test fine, Tested primary side of coil, both wires have power going in, but not out.

Car is timed to TDC.

No lights on E.C.C.S. also no power at distributor wire harness.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have pictures available ande can take more. Thanks in Advance.

That is a tough one man... you might have better luck posting it in the 300zx forum... let me know if you want me to move the thread.

The only thing I can think of would be to like, maybe ground the mystery wire... and see what that does...

Also check your fuses.

Thank you for a speedy response, I've tried the mystery wire tied in to both acc/power and ground, also tested it for power or ground w/ a test lamp, it is neither. thinking maybe dummy/decoy? I have a picture of the ignition plate and harness that it was connected to, if that would help, i can text or email them. I have checked fuses and most related electrical parts, they seem operable, I have tested coil and ignitor in another running z. Thanks for your offer to move the thread, that would be appreciated. Im new to this forum, and all forums for that matter. Thanks again!

UPDATE:I have replaced the fusible link and now have restored power to the fuel pump and e.c.c.s., After running e.c.c.s. self diagnostics, I come back with trouble codes 13(Cylinder head temp sensor) 23(Idle switch circuit) and 31(load signal circuit or ecu) any ideas on troubleshooting these problems?

Feeling kinda dumb now, didn't read the whole procedure for testing, only code is cylinder head temp sensor. Gonna get one later, gotta change the fuel, hopefully she'll fire. Hopefully some of the info I've left behind will help someone else. Any questions regarding what I've done, feel free to ask. If theres any zperts out there that might have some tips for me, please send those too.
