so i just installed my takeda intake the other day and today i went out of town, while coming back i decided to see if it would get up the governed speed any quicker.

it did, but to my surprise it didnt stop going, i was on a level surface that was not going downhill or anything, when i hit 120 i shut it down.

since the last time i topped it out, which has only been once in a race, the only thing ive done is install the intake and fog lights.

can anyone shed some light on what might have cause this to happen?

I wonder if it was a fluke? I don't know how an intake can fool the engine's computer to letting you go faster... I'm assuming the 2.5er's limit is 114 mph? Interesting stuff.

What did you mean by you shut it down? My highest speed that I've hit is 105 lol. Never 120

I thought the speed limiter was 130????? I can always get to 125-130 and then it takes forever to get any faster and I slow down cause I live in the DC area lots of cops... and I already have 2 recklesses :-(

He has a 2.5, speed limiter is something like 110 in them. Although maybe because he's from Oklahoma and maybe they abused his car before selling to him, dunno. :)

Hmmm. Speed limiter at 113? Is there that much of a difference between actual speed, and speedometer speed? That probably didnt really sound like it made sense, but I have gone a speedometer indicated 120 in my bone stock coupe and still had 6th (which it obviously wouldn't pull stock so I left in 5th). Ill take a picture of my speedometer next time cuz this isnt really adding up if the limiter from the factory is set at 113.

130mph for the 3.5 i think??? The time it takes to get from 125-130 is unreal, feels like forever... or it could be that the speedlimit is 55 and I know if I get pulled over im going to jail.... not a good feeling

i still dont know what to make of it, ive got the stock tires and wheels, car only has 10,000 miles on it, i didnt ever hit a limit on how fast it would go, and by shutting off i mean i released the accelerator pedal. maybe i can get someone to take a ride with me to get a video of it sometime.

well if the car is manual it might be one of those things that its only limited in six gear or something like BMW's i was driving my friends e46 m3 and he was telling me the car goes as fast as its going to go in 5th with out a tune 162 but he as soon as you shift to six the fuel cuts

^ Hmm...that sounds like a reasonable explanation as I did 120 while still in 5th. I know this car doesnt have the power to overcome the drag coefficienct at those speeds in 6th so I dont bother shifting to it.

4th and 5th gear (for me) stopped at 113-115 but after bd tune i have no problem going past it.
