I just finished swaping a CA into my 89 coupe and got everything hooked up(battery harness, dash harness, vacuum lines and all other plugs and connectors...) I am getting the engine to turn over(crank) and I know fuel is reaching but Im not gettign any spark at all. At first I tought it was a mysterious blue/red wire by the ECU but that appears to go to the DASH connector(and was confirmed by search results)..Is there anything im missing? on the main engine power connection, its supposed to be blue/red wire joined with black/red wire and hooked to black/red wire on the KA side right? could it a faulty ECU and how can I confirm this? any ideas cause im totally lost.

Yes I searched and I also used the FSM to no avail...thanks in advance.

Blue / Red is power to the Ignition Coils, it also feeds into the Dash harness as it goes to the Consult connector for diagnosis of whether or not the coils are getting power.

It should be fed from the output of a relay controlled by the output of the ECCS aka EFI Relay, in the normal setup. You can hook it up directly to the other power wires but I don't recommend this if you can avoid it, as it wasn't designed to be operated that way.

See the wiring diagram at the end of the FSM, or look at my website

To the harness that sits on the back of the valve cover,by the injectors.

Hi,

Do a quick check, remove the CAS (camshaft angle sensor), with the ignition is on the on position, turn the CAS by hand and listen to the fuel rail getting pressurized, also, with one spark plug out, have the sparkplug plugged into the coil and the spark plug itself is grounded, when you do that, turn the cas by hand and see if there is a spark generated on the sparkplug.I have seen where the exhaust camshaft has the lip broken where the cas plugs in.The engine will turn but the cas won't due to a broken camshaft lip where the cas plugs in.

If you still don't have a spark, check for any unconnected grounds.

You mentioned a wire that you aren't sure where it goes, did you check the fsm to see where it goes, do you have access to an fsm?

Good luck,

Yeah,it went into the check connector...I dont think it matters since I have all the required wires needed to get the engien running as HT article mentions it. I will try that(CAS procedure) tomorrow, I had another question, can anyone tell me how many connections they ended up with no being connected?I have both of the ones by the battery, 3 on the fusebox, the dash, am I missing anything?..

I believe your problems are out by the battery tray and not where other have told you to look. You need to make sure that you wired those two plugs correctly or you're never going to see spark.

Both plugs have been wired(twice, soldered) and checked by me and friends.

Anyone show me on this pic what wires/connectors are not plugged and which ones are supposed to be?
