I have been trying to solve this problem for a while. I have 1990 240SX with an SR20 engine. The car was running but one day it didn't start and since I have not been able to get it running. Check and fixed a problem with the fuel pump (the ground in the fuel pump relay wasn't working).
I took out one spark plug and cranked the engine but I don't see any park in the plug. Using a light tested and found that the middle wire from the coil plug has power. See picture below. The problem is that I have no idea what that means and how to check it the proper way. I connected the tester ground wire to the engine and touched the middle of the coil (where the spark goes) and the light is not tuning on. I supposed that the wire is delivering the power but it is not going thru the coil becuase there is no power at the other end (while cranking the engine). Again, I an not sure if this is the proper way of testing this.
I noticed that the coil has cracks in the side (see picture below).
I will appreciate if somebody can tell me the proper way of testing and troubleshooting the problem that I am having, no spark to get the engine running.
