I was gonna try to get a wiring diagram for your car today but didnt have time. I will try again tomorrow . there are no common occurences I know of on the 88 max that causes this. So I will take a look at the wiring and how it works tommorow and see if I can point ya in the right direction.

welcome to nico by the way. your coil gets its power on the black/white tracer wire directly from the ignition switch. if it has power when the key is off you most likely have a bad ignition switch. with the key off disconnect the plug for the ignition switch under the coloum near the edge of the dash. if it still has power after disconnecting the switch you have a short somewhere between the swith and coil. and it would be a short to another wire not to ground. if the power goes away you have a bad ignition switch.

I have spark now. Thank you for your reply, but i seem to have another problem. I need to know what direction the rotor button is pointing when the #1 cylinder is at top dead center on valve overlap. Thanx again,Lewright

toward #1 on the cap?? not sure what you are asking. it should point to the #1 electrode in the cap if the engine is on top dead center. you have to follow the cap boss to figure out where the electrode is in the cap it is not where #1 is on your cap.
