As the title implies, my baby has no spark. The coil has +12v, so I thought the coil was the problem, nope. Since then i have also tried a different distributor, ecu, and power transistor, no luck. I also tried "hotwiring" the coil, ala nissanfanatic, hoping the coil wasn't getting enough voltage, nada. The injectors are firing, as I smell gas at the tailpipe. I am going to test the continuity of the wire going from the ecu to the transistor, after that I'm out of ideas. You guys have any???thanks for the help, TB

did you put a screw driver inside the spark plug wires to cehck if theres spark?

did you check the ballast (ignitor chip)? try someone else's ballast or check the ground side of the coil connector.

did you do anything with/to the car before you started to experience this problem?

the only thing I did was a new cap and rotor, two days before the problem. I pulled the coil wire at the distributor and held it about a quarter inch from the cylinder head, no spark. I tested the wires for continiuty and they are good.

I've had this same problem twice. the first time it was my distributor. The light emitting diode in the CAS went bad. You say you tried a different one so that SHOULDN'T be the problem. Second time I had a broken wire in the wire that reads the CAS signal TO the ecu. it was a ***** to diagnose because the wire had broken somehow so the ECU would get a signal (not the proper voltage mind you) sometimes and other times it didn't. I ended up taking to a shop and they found the problem. here's a list of ECU pinout diagrams I listed a while back Link<<. find the one for your car then get a FSM if you dont already have one and check the CAS wires for the proper voltage.

if you dont have an FSM you can download them from several locations. one I know of off hand is http://www.zeroyon.com.

Try it with a screw driver and hold it a bit closer. Quarter inch might be a bit too much of a jump, when plugs are gapped @ 0.045" the most.

I just tested the continuity from the coil/transistor to the ecu and from the CAS, both good. As for the spark test, I have an MSD coil, and when it works it will jump about 3/4's of an inch. Thanks everyone for the ideas, keep 'em coming. If I don't get it running tomorrow I'm gonna have it towed to a shop though.TB

Check all grounds. Use a multimeter and check for resistance between engien ground and a chassis bolt. Should be low.

Also check resistance on the coil terminals.

I'll be in Gainesville tomorrow if you wanna meet up somewhere and see if we can figure anything out... IM me about it.

hey dude.... its your ignitor chip because when ou put on the msd coil... it says in the little paper they give you that you need a different balllast.. so change the ignitor chip
