Hey guys, Well I have posted here trying to get my car up and running and it just isnt going to happen i dont believe. The engine only has 111k mi on engine but its only cranking...im not getting any spark and I have replaced ignition coil, spark plugs, and distributor and its just not coming. So I think it is probably wiring. But this is my question. I am planning on getting a SR20DET in Feburary. My ignition in the car was on a stupid dinky keypad at once but he had the old ignition but it has the bottom opening where the little black small button is supposed to go isnt ther...what is that by the way ???? anyway...My question is When I Swap The SR20DET in with a wiring service to convert the main engine harnesses, do you guys think my car will start.....I am really concerned at this moment because if it wont start now, its probably electrical...and I dont know if it will start with the new motor.

Please HELP!

Check for loose or broken grounds if you are not getting any power.

Ya, I think it probably is, See, It started fine when i bought it, and it started fine when I put a new battery in it, and then all of a sudden it didnt work at all???? just only cranks now with no spark. I bet it is a ground but where is the ground for the ignition system? I am new to the 240sx world...been with Eclipses

I have a 1990 SOHC, I will be swapping in an SR soon, but I just hope it starts.......it turns over...(actually now it doesnt right now because the battery is gone by trying so many times) but no spark not even to the igntion coil....wont even arch.

It could be the ECU. I had the same problem the engine would crank but but no spark. If you can find a spare ecu that would save alot of headaches in trouble shooting.

Ya i thought that too, so I switched my ECU in my friends 90 SOHC and it booted up. I have checked everything and thats why this is so damn aggravating. .....It has to be wiring some how.

I just wish I knew what the problem is.....I dont know at this point what it could be. As it is shown in this thread is that I have checked almost everything and I have run out of ideas. I hope someone will tell me whats wrong because there is a lot of people that wish they knew as well....

I'll get back to you on this. It's been a while since I had to get my grubby mits dirty on an SOHC, but I'm looking over some of my old SOHC's pictures and the actual fsm on it. In the mean time, think you might be able to check over the resistance across the cable that goes from the ignition coil to the distributor cap.

The ignition coil should have a black wire, that's the ground (duh), black-red is hooked up to the ignition switch, and a light green/black wire that's hooked up to the power transistor. The transistor gets signal from the ecu ala a white wire. The green/black wire runs to a resistor and changes colors at the ecu to a yellow-red. This is from the fsm. I'm gonna start poking around through old pictures.

Let me know if that helped any.

Alright guys........now im pissed. I go today to try and see if the car still turns over and i get absolutely nothin. I mean nothing......no lights across the dash..nothin. I checked fuses and used a battery out of my other perfectly running vehicle. I am not gettin anything anymore. DO you guys think that I have fried my wiring harness or what???????? This is awful!!!!!!!!!! I can not figure out a damn thing with this.

Some other background info is when i got it I said that it had a dinky keypad, now when i put back on the reg ignition it turned over but no spark. Now!!!!!!! I am not getting anything to the engine. I am only getting power to like the lights, the dash lights ( when headlamps are on ) and brake lights. Everything is fine besides nothing to the engine.

I am thinking now it has to be either the Ignition Cylinder itself or the engine harness. It HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!! this has finally ticked me the F*** off..... please someone help...
