Hello, I recently just bought an 89' 240sx. it was running until I inspected the car carefully and found some chewed up wires. The wires were on the tail end of the ignition. They go to the distributor, ignitor and coil. I cut the frayed end back, and respliced them correctly. Still no spark. I tested the coil and its good. What else can I do? I'm going to put a new ignitor in, should that fix my problem? When I turn the key to accessory, I can hear a relay kick on, would that be for my ignition or fuel pump? Any help is appreciated.

Also, where would the relay for the ignition be?

How did you cut the wires? All at once or one at a time. If you did it all at once, then you probably blew a fuse or something.

My FAST cd only goes back to the S14, sorry I can't help out the location of the relay. I'm thinking by the battery though, just a guess.

Well I cut them off all at once, but I checked every fuse 5 times, none are blown.

Sounds bad. May have fried either the computer or the distributor.

Pull some codes with the key on and see if there is anything there.

Check the ground on the coil. Its a small clip that is easily overlooked.

I have checked that ground, no fix. I got a new ignitor, going to try that next monday.

I hope you had the battery disconnected when you cut the wires. This is a basic thing you need to do before you do any electrical repairs on hot wires

I'm not sure if I did or not, but the wires already grounded and sparked, so if something was going to mess up, it already had.
