My 97 Pathfinder wouldn't turn over/crank, but the electric is fine so I had it towed to a garage and the mechanic took the distributor off and said it's not getting spark and the fuel injectors aren't firing. His scanner couldn't read either. The scanner powers on but won't read. The mechanic doesn't work on foreign cars so I'm going to have it towed to a Nissan Dealer Monday. I tried troubleshooting it online and thought it might be a crankshaft sensor and bought one but that didn't fix it. I'm thinking it's a bad ecm. What are your thoughts?

You should definately get it to someone who knows what to look at. Might just be a blown fuse, loss of ground,.

Yeah. He checked all the fuses. Looking at $85/hr labor rate at Nissan. I just have a feeling it's going to need a new ecm and who knows what Nissan will charge me for that. It sucks because my hometown doesn't have a Nissan dealer and the closest is 45min away.

It was the camshaft sensor. Had a new distributor installed and now it runs. I had read elsewhere online that no spark and no fuel injector pulse means either the anti-theft system or the distributor.

Oh and I didn't have to have it towed. I found the solution online and had my mechanic install the distributor after I bought it online from Amazon for $94.

Thanks for the update.
You presented a complicated situation but like most things it is usually a simple reason. Nice job figuring it out without replacing everything.

Thanks. I was dreading having to have it towed to the dealer and paying $85/hr labor. I read online a month ago that my year of Pathy are known for faulty distributors and I should have just bought one then haha. When I searched online I didn't search for 'no fuel injector pulse' but instead searched for 'fuel injectors aren't firing' and didn't find the solution that I needed.
