For some reason i am not getting and RPM or any temp reading? I have an 89 s13. So i swapped out the cluster with an 180sx cluster, but still no RPMs. Do i need to have the DOCH cluster not the 180? or is there something with wiring that would cause this? Thank u for any help

It's probably in your wiring. You should have cut/soldered some wires under the dash going to the dash plug.

Also, I would just swap the tach out into your SOHC cluster.

also you need to swap out the sr sensors on the transmission with the ka ones. i think ones the reverse sensor and ones the speed sensor

I changed those sensors over they look exactly the same the only difference i can see is the plugs. But are they really different. I did swap three sensors. The speed sensor, reverse, and the one above the speed. Did i do the right ones? I will check the wiring too cause ive had multiple solders break and come apart on me. thank u for the help

The plugs are the only difference for the reverse and neutral switches.

Grab an FSM and make sure you soldered the correct Yellow/Red wire under the dash. There's a couple running through there and it's easy to get them confused

i was only aware of 2 sensors that you need to swap out. you have the 89 s13 so of course the stock tach wouldn't work. but i was told to just switch it out with the jdm one from your clip. if you did the wiring right it should work. i just went ahead and bought a 5 inch JDM 4 in 1 tach, i didn't feel like ripping out my hud and risk breaking something. crawl under the car and check your solder, what does the 3rd sensor you said you swapped out look like? where is it? i dont think it would have to do with your tach not working if the engines running fine.

None of the trans sensors have anything to do with the tachometer. The tach gets its signal from the CAS

ok makes sense. Then its gotta be some wierd wiring problem between your ecu and HUD or CAS and ecu or maybe you just got unlucky with both tachs lol.

It's probably the dash plug wiring like I mentioned earlier. I've been working on SRs for years and I still get the wires on that plug confused.

Ok i looked at the wires today and i printed the wiring FRSport.com and checked it with what i had. Well everything was right. But the yellow/red wire from the white connector was connected to another yellow/red wire but the wire just go to the rest of the harness it doesnt go to the ECU. My water temp is the same way. But everything else connects to a specific ECU pin. is the tach and the water temp suppose to? I have the pin out for the ECU it said pin 3 for Tach. I have the 62 ecu. Do i just splice the wire from the connector to that wire or what? thanks again for the help

I was just thinking could it just be that the cluster is bad?
