Hi I’m new to Nico. I have a 2001 pathfinder 4wd with automatic transmission. Besides morning sickness in cold weather it seemed to be running fine. On the way home a few weeks ago it started having trouble shifting. It would rev pretty high before shifting. Taking my foot off the gas would help it to shift. A few days later when I went to drive it again it would not go into reverse. It feels like neutral. It goes into drive but with the high rev shifting described above. I have read many posts about no reverse but most say drive is completely fine with the no reverse. My situation seems a little different. I’ve never touched the fluid since I got it at 155k miles, now at 225k. Checked the fluid and it looked slightly brown and maybe smelled a little burnt and seemed a little high. I’m going to do a pan drop and inspect the solenoids and any wiring to the transmission this weekend. Would appreciate anyone that has faced a similar issue. Hoping it’s not an internal issue that requires dropping the transmission. Thanks!

The Nissan maintenance section of the service manual only indicates inspecting the ATF every 15K miles but the reality of these transmissions is that an ATF drain and replacement is needed at least every 30K to keep them from wearing out prematurely. https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual ... 1%2Fma.pdf
