No Reverse gear

3 days ago my reverse gear worked fine, then the next morning it doesnt work at all, cant get it to go in gear at all, not when the car is off, not when the car is being pushed backwards, cant get it in what so ever. Anyone know what i need? a transmission rebuild kit?

What's the transmission fluid level and condition (smell, color)?

royal purple changed about 1k miles ago, so i cant imagine it being bad already, i have more gear oil, is it worth wasting 30 bucks of oil? think it will help any?

I'm assuming you have a manual trans. Is the Royal Purple oil you used GL-4 or GL-5 rated?

GL-5 i think, i bought it from my brother a month ago, he is a mechanic so i guess he got the right kind. but that slight difference couldnt make me lose an entire gear right?

You must put GL-4 rated fluid only into your manual transmission, otherwise you risk damage to brass synchros and any other yellow metals in the transmission. Drain your current fill and replace it with a GL-4 fluid.

i was guessing, i wasnt there when he changed it, he is a lead mechanic at mercedes and has owned that car for a long time, i hope he would know what kind to use, but ill change it and see if it helps, i hope so, cause the only rebuild kit i could find was 400 bucks
