No Rev Match On 2nd to 1st shift

Just purchased 06 m45 about a week ago w 85k miles. Car runs strong, transmission shifts great, in both auto or manual. Rev match works from 5th to 2nd when donwshifting, but not when going into 1st. It doesn't seem as though anything is wrong mechanically. Has anyone experienced this? Or know what could be the cause?

I haven't noticed shifting down into 1st, but definitely it does rev match 5th through 2nd. I don't even ever shift down into 1st if I'm using the "manual" mode. I have before, but it seems unless you're going under about 10mph, it's quite a drastic shift and seems kind of pointless. I definitely appreciate it on all other gears though, it helps set up a smoother corner entry.

my 03 I notice it very well, it also won't shift down until your going very slow, with the diff and trans gearing it will hold first until at least 25 probably higher but it wont downshift that speed

It seems like your rev match may not work going into first either, if it feels like a drastic shift. Mine feels same way. And i agree, under normal driving, there isn't much need for manual into first, but for screwing off, i need it. Particularly for spirited drives on downhill canyon roads with tight turns, range of 20-50 mph, the brakes can't quite handle the abuse on their own.

Also wifes car is 05 g35x and rev match works on all downshifts, hence why i would expect it to work the same on our m45s
