Obvioulsy . But there should more features added to the S and more features added to the SL. When you compare the Japania feature list to the lists for the other Tiidas and Versas, it's like night and day. Every year, manufacturers are changing the term of base model. Traditionally the base models have been the cars that you get nothing but what the Feds require. Very boring plain interiors and exteriors that give you nothing but take you from point A to B. But more manufacturers are offering more to the base model and some are even getting rid of the terms base and trims. You can only buy one model that you add options to it. Price conscience consumers are looking for the cars that give more bang for their buck. Here, I see a lot more Kia Amanti's and Hyundai Azera's than Ford 500's.
One thing that I don't agree with Nissan on is the difference between the S and SL is primarily the ability to get options. It's the exact same car with more wires, interior plastics and buttons No bigger engine? No 4 wheel disc? No sportier suspension? If I'm going to pay 4k over what I've already paid, decrease my 0-60, increase my cornering speed, make me look faster. Don't give me extra buttons I can push
