Thanks to everyone who answered my question on passenger compartment temperature control. I'm loving my new Versa. One minor thing took me by surprise. On the dealer lot I had narrowed my choice to two Versas and decided on a white hatchback. When I got home I discovered that the car I picked did not have the rear seat, fold down center armrest which I thought was standard in all models. Is it the hatchbacks that don't have a rear seat armrest?

The S model doesn't have it, only the SL.

Yea us S guys don't get all the little creature features that come with the SL. I don't mind and I'm enjoying the money I saved.

LOL! I test drove an Xtronic SL and then a manual S (back to back), and I didn't think I was driving the same car at all! Needless to say, I can't be happier that I have the SL If, however, I hadn't driven the SL in the first place, I suspect I wouldn't know what I was missing as much...

I was going to buy a nice onyx blue "S" without ABS, until I saw the magnetic grey "SL" with everything I wanted... It's true, the "S" owners really got the shaft when it comes to creature features.

If the S had all the nice little features of the SL, then there wouldn't me much of a point to have both trims would it (since they'd practically be the same)

Obvioulsy . But there should more features added to the S and more features added to the SL. When you compare the Japania feature list to the lists for the other Tiidas and Versas, it's like night and day. Every year, manufacturers are changing the term of base model. Traditionally the base models have been the cars that you get nothing but what the Feds require. Very boring plain interiors and exteriors that give you nothing but take you from point A to B. But more manufacturers are offering more to the base model and some are even getting rid of the terms base and trims. You can only buy one model that you add options to it. Price conscience consumers are looking for the cars that give more bang for their buck. Here, I see a lot more Kia Amanti's and Hyundai Azera's than Ford 500's.

One thing that I don't agree with Nissan on is the difference between the S and SL is primarily the ability to get options. It's the exact same car with more wires, interior plastics and buttons No bigger engine? No 4 wheel disc? No sportier suspension? If I'm going to pay 4k over what I've already paid, decrease my 0-60, increase my cornering speed, make me look faster. Don't give me extra buttons I can push
