ok here is my situation, blew up my engine, did direct swap

new oil filter, new water pump, new plugs, new t-stat, using royal purple oil

car idles fine, takes a while for temp gauge to go up to normal point, car over heats over 3000rpms, otherwise gauge stays normal, but the engine is getting hot, losing coolant, and no pressure, engine bogs down when throttled

clutch fan is running, t-stat housing was slightly warm, but not warm like the rest of the motor,

no smoke coming out of exhaust, exhaust sounds subdued compared to before swap, and hardly any exhaust pressure even when throttled

no oil in water and vice versa

any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Did you check to make sure your thermostat is facing the correct way?

we took out the t-stat, it works better, but still sloggish when starting cold, some learching still while driving, we are guessing its time to change out the exhaust system, when i blew my motor i was in a small puddle that dipped deeper than we were expecting, we are thinking now that there is gunk in the piping and maybe even the cat cause lost of power at some points, i drove alot today, and for the most part seems to be doing good, like i said still learching at times, and not at any specific rpm or gear, anyways thanks for the help

you need to run a thermostat. w/ out one the coolant passes through the radiator too fast, and doesnt have time to cool.

Have you figured out where your coolant is going? If you are bogging and you are loosing coolant it could be that its finding its way into your cylinders. Check your compression. If two adjecant cylinders are lower in compressions than others, more than likely your head gasket is blown. If the compression is simmilar on all, try bleeding the coolant system. Your bogging could be caused by poor condition of your ignition components. Good luck.

we never did figure out where the coolant was going, but the head gasket if fine, compression is about the same on all from what i was told, and oil is fine as well as the coolant now, thanks though
