--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 91 240sx I replaced my slave because it started leaking until it gave out and I can't go to any gear at all. After I replaced the slave I vacuum bled it and pressure and the pedal goes straight to the floor so I replaced the master I thought probably just a bad master also but I bled it and everything still the same... help anyone is there some special thing I have to do???

I'd suggest getting rid of all that weird damper stuff, just bend the hardline.

you have to bleed the slave as well as the box underneath.

when you replace the slave, you should replace the master as well. make sure everything is tight and stuff. Then just get a buddy and bleed. This should be a pretty straight forward operation. IT does take a while for the pressure to build up though so be patient.

Why should the master be replaced when the slave is being changed? Should I replace my brake master cylinder when I change my pads? My car has ALOT of kilometers on it and has had the slave replaced many times but the master still works perfectly.

No need to replace both unless both are bad. Bleed the system and check for any leaks. You can also get a SS clutch line from SPL to replace the rubber line and bend the hard lines to bypass the dampener, as previously mentioned.

i go to tech school for automotive and when we replace the slave, we replace the master. my intructor told me you do that because if you have a new master and it is stronger than the slave, it can cause premature failure of the slave. i dont really get it but my instructor has been working on cars a lot longer than i and i bet most of you have so i would definitely trust him. the brake pad, master cylinder analogy was not relevant by the way

fatboy is right on the money, although the master is similar to a brake master it still isnt the same and DOES need to be replaced with the slave. Also, the price of a new master averages $20-40 so its not like a big price difference. I have replaced my master, slave, and flex hose all 2 times now and have also removed the dampener a long time ago and still continue to experience problems with the clutch. I think that these systems are a little on the weak side honestly and it probably helps to use OEM parts and not aftermarket as well.
