Hello .. I am having a problem with my sr20det. I got the swap about 3 weeks ago, and at first, everything was going great.

I added an aftermarket bov ( and plugged off the spots for the old one ), changed the oil, put in a walbro fuel pump, and put in some iridium spark plugs ( for the sr20de motor ).

Ever since then, occasionaly when i hit boost, the car seems to bog. It only happens sometimes. And it happens in every gear. The car just seems to hesitate and seem all motor when boost is hit.

I have checked the vacum, and it is perfect, the idle is great and doesnt fluctuate, and i am boosting perfect boost and staying there. The car just doesnt go anywhere. Keep in mind that the problem doesnt happen all of the time.

I asked a couple of friends what the problem might be, and they said it could be a fuel issue and to get the 300zx tt fuel filter. So i did that, and it didnt fix it. Then another friend told me to clean my MAF sensor, did that and still nada. The only other suggestion that was given to me is to re-gap my spark plugs, because they were gapped for the DE motor and not the DET. So i am going to do that today, and hopefully fix the problem.

I just got a fmic installed, and the problem seems to be occuring more often now, and for longer periods of time. Any help would be awesome because this is really driving me crazy.

Definitely check the plug gap, that could be it right there. Is your BOV venting to the atmosphere, or did you recirculate it? I have read all sorts of stories about people having problems with atmospheric BOV's.

It blows off into the atmosphere. It is really weird though because it doesnt seem to be causing any sorts of problems. And i can't seem to figure out why the problem occurs only some of the time... oh well..im off to go re-gap my plugs...

Vacuum leak? Double check that all yours hoses and connectors are on tight.

Check for a boost leak. Did you adjust your bov properly? Maybe that's leaking under boost?

I'll bet it's the plugs causing detonation and then the ECU cutting your timing back big time.

You should not run NA SR20 Plugs in a DET VERY bad mojo, I use plugs from a turbo 300ZX in mine.

Well... i checked the spark plug gap, and it is perfect, so it definately wasnt the spark plugs. They also showed signs of my motor running rich. I went out and got an air fuel gauge, and it shows that the motor is running pretty rich all of the time. I noticed that it seems to run even more rich than usual when the problem is occuring... could i be flooding the motor?? I also talked to the motor installer, and he said that i may want to go and get a ground kit because the motor may need some more ground points.. any comments on that??

recirculate yer BOV back into yer intake...that will help with some of yer problem...make sure you get plugs that are MEANT for a turbo motor...NOT an NA motor...also try to find copper plugs and maybe a step colder than stock
