I was trying to diagnose why my reverse light weren't coming on. I later realized the car was rear ended at some point in its life and the reverse light wiring was cut. I then went on to splice them back. The mistake I made was when I was setting the wire back. I had the copper wiring exposed and it hit one of the bolts and caused a spark.

The reverse light wiring merges with the fuel pump wiring. Now when try to start, the fuel pump doesn't prime. I looked at the fuel pump relay behind the trans ecu, it doesn't click.

Car ran just fine prior to this, I know the pump is good.
Could it be a bad ground? What did mess up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I checked all fuses relays....ran the fuel pump direct, works fine. The only thing I can come up with is, it's either the fuel pump modulator or the drop resistor which I doubt because its just for voltage. At this point I will be bypassing the fuel modulator. i have bought a toggle switch and just run some wires. Hope this works, I will post an update later today.

J30 is running! No more fuel modulator or drop resistor.

I didn't use the switch setup because it would be nearly impossible to run the wires through the engine firewall.
I just did some splicing of the wires, that connect to the fuel pump. Black and red wire that I bought. Ran it through. pulled through side bolster of back seat, then tearing off side panel near both passenger doors.

I then pulled the wire through the vent looking things near heater core that go through from passenger to drivers side. And ultimately splice to the ignition wires. I now some will say its not "technically right" but its not a big deal. The fuel pressure regulator is doing its job and sending the extra fuel to the return line. no bogging down after high revs. Very happy with the results. :mike

Hopefully this will be useful to others with this sort of problem. As it is, parts like the fuel mod are rare and expensive for our j30's.
