just a few drops. you don't want to put a lot in there. I've never heard opf people using ATF before, but I know normal motor oil is usually used for that.
the way I check my car for boost leaks is to use an air compressor. We took a pipe that was the same size as my compressor inlet tube, welded a plate on top of it, drilled a hole in it, and then fitted an air hose attachment fitting. My friend has an air tool that allows him to manually control how much air leaks into the engine by turning a knob. All we do is watch the boost gauge while more air is allowed into the engine. You'll usually begin to hear boost leaks immediately, but once you hit around 5 or so and don't hear anything, you should be fine.
that's an elaborate setup that not everyone has, or can fabricate on their own though. But I'm just giving you an idea of something to do.
