no power

89 D21 Z2.4i has no power to the wire going to the distributor, and timming does not change when engine is revved. Transmission (automatic) shifts hard with no downshift on hard acceleration. Could not find power to eec unit - if power to eec is out, would that account for the problems listed?

I would think that the engine wouldn't run at all if the ECM isn't getting power. Sounds like you have some wiring problems. Perhaps a wire turned green with corrosion and is causing you some headaches.
