Yesterday there was a huge thunderstorm/tornado and it knocked out all of the power in a huge area. There's a bunch of roads closed too because of trees that are falling and and stuff. Street lights are off, traffic lights don't work, the whole shabang. Pepco says it might take several days because the damage is so extensive. The next few days are going to be interesting. Also, I love my HTC Incredible.

Dave, do you have power?

Damn. A couple days? That blows.

Did a transformer get knocked out or something?

There was a tornado up by you? Damn man, that's hefty. I was driving through Fairfax last afternoon and it looked like one could have touched down there with the way the clouds were, the pressure and the odd heat swirling.

I take it you still have power? Otherwise, good luck recharging the phone you're using to post on Nico... ;)

The rain was coming down so hard against my windows that that is what woke me up, the thunder wasn't too bad here. Luckily, I never lostpower but several of my friends a coworkers are still without power in Odenton, Bowie, Severna Park etc.

Yea it was pretty crazy. Probably one of the strongest storms I've seen here. Apparently it knocked out lines, posts, transformers, and damaged a sub station. There's a huge area that has no power. Driving around at night is pretty cool though. Did you guys get any of the storm in your area Jim?

I'm using a power inverter to charge all my stuff. I'm going to try to build a generator for the fridge :gapteeth:

What we got in our area was relatively light. It didn't last long as I left the house at around 3 it was sunny, got back at 4:45 and it was sunny but the floor mats I just washed and hung out to dry were totally saturated, so we got some rain but it wasn't bad. No problems with power though, none either in the Lorton area as I was at a dinner there last night.

Up in the Fairfax area on my way to Dulles Airport it looked rather bad. Minimal visiblity, wind blowing out of control, massive drops of rain, etc.

We have personally been without power since late Sunday, and the temps in this area being in the 90's every day have really made everyone either hide in the basement or head out to restaurants and coffee bars to enjoy what little AC they can provide.

We just got our generator hooked up, so now I can get online (FiOS).

Play sick and go to the ER. You'll have a good 4 hours in the Holy Cross waiting room.

I'm in the Aspen Hill area, and my block has been one of the lucky few to not have lost power. Friends a couple of blocks away just received lights this morning, only to have them go off again mid day.

Also saw a brand new Challenger with a crushed front end because of a tree. Oh and one of the taco stand trucks got flipped over in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot.

Yeah that storm was definitely crazy.

They are now talking until next week before we will get turned back on.

I sue hope they honor our receipts for gasoline, because we're going broke fast.

they were saying the damage was pretty extensive. A lot of places got powered up today, so it could come back sooner than next week
