you might have left your lights on and they drained the battery. It can also be a bad connections on the terminals.

Start with the easy. Try jumping it off or charging the battery before you do anything else.

yes and after that i always have trouble with corrosion on the termibnals themselves. If you have the time and a ride, go to the auto store and buy a terminal brush( about 3 bucks) and then just brush them really well and if your battery is charged, it should work.

I had to replace my termnals as one of them was cracked and the other was corrodied quite bad. And I did it as I was replacing the battery. It's always a good idea to have the terminals in a good shape. A terminal costs like 2-3 bucks in Autozone, for $12 one can get a gold platted one which will never corrode. My granddad tought me one trick. After putting the terminals on cover them with some grease and they will never corrode. He was using this all his life on Soviet military trucks. Never had to clean the corrosion. Just wipe away the grease and that's it

BTW Mark,

how old is your battery ? If it's over 4 years just replace it. It might be the reason why you had the problem. Do not wait. If it's old and fails it might take the alternator with it. It will not be fun. Especially in Canadian climate during winter time.

Having a battery fail in the summer sucks too. One year, I had a battery and alternator fail in the middle of summer, during rush hour in the downtown core in a live lane on one of the hottest and humidest days of the year. Some good samaritarians without any prompting helped me push the car to the right most lane (gotta love Torontonians) so I could wait for a tow truck. Since then, I change out my battery every 4 years and inspect the charging system. I change the battery whether or not it needs a new one.

If you need a new one get a NAPA they make some damn good batteries. There is a NAPA store in Pickering, off of a side street off of Brock Road or get an AC Delco replacemnt from any GM dealership. In my experience both Canadian Tire and Nissan batteries have short lives.
