well i just finished a swap on my 91 hicas model 240sx the swap was a ka to ka swap

well everything is plugged up and bolted on, but when i start the car(after a long turnover) it sometimes idles funny and then once it ildes fine i give it gas and the car goes no where. It acts as if i has no power to move the car. i have changed the spark plugs and wires. i have no check engine light at all. i have no idea what is wrong. i'm about to just take it to a shop and let them deal with it or take the engine out and buy a SR20

Check your plugs, were they fouled with carbon or wet with anything? Does the car feel rich (pop-pop-popping out the exhaust when decellerating in gear, smells like gas, black smoke out the exhaust). Do you have any silver-blue smoke out the exhaust, showing burning oil and potentially bad rings? White smoke meaning bad headgasket? To diagnose that problem, we need to know more details!

sounds like your timing, on ka24de, the timing is at 20', so check your timing, and the firing order 1, 3 , 4, 2

Wiggle the plug for the MAFS and see if that does anything.

Check other accessory sensors for a good connection while you're at it...coolant temp and intake air temp sensors can cut your power when they go bad. Also clean out your MAF with carb cleaner or rubbing alcohol. I would say timing as well, but it seems you tried that...did you use a light to set the timing to 20?

Maybe i'm stupid but you didn't mention if it was the same year motor that you swapped.. i know when i swapped mine for a 93 and i used the MAFS i got with the motor it ended up being bad. It was idling funny and studdering, and when i drove it.. it rode fine till about 2 grand and then the car ran rich and would keep dying.. swapped out the MAFS with a good one and it was the problem.

Check coolant temp sensor, and clean the MAF element, not the harness connector (although that couldnt hurt either)

this is the exact reason i registered to this forum.ive done the same swap since i blew my old motor in my 91 240 and was hoping to get it running in time for school.im having the exact same problem when i rev, my rpms go up extremely slow except when i pour seafoam into the vacuum house but when i stop pouring it in the car starts bogging out again. and when i get to about 2k rpm in 1st gear the car starts bogging out but it wont shut off compleletly. any help appreciated.o yea my i had to replace my spark plugs since they were burnt white.but hopefully when my uncle comes to visit with his timing gun he could maybe fix my problem.

Well, if your plugs were white it sounds like you're running lean. Do you smell any fuel in the engine bay? Hear any pre-detonation?

For whatever reason, it sounds like you're not getting enough fuel. Fuel pump crapping out, injectors, fuel pressure regulator? Do you have a Factory Service Manual to do the necessary diagnostics?
