1990 stock ka single cam. When I'm driving with the gas pedal down sometimes it doesn't do anything like I'll be driving and all the sudden while I'm still on the accelerator it will begin losing Rpms and speed for no reason also it will completely shut off no massive shaking like stalling just shut off and I'll have to restart it I've replaced fuel filter and my fuel pump, pumps just fine i have no idea why this is happening? Please help

check your alternator, sounds crazy but the alternator on the 240s tend to give out slowly it could not be giving power and all of a sudden it kicks in again and the battery is the only thing powering the whole car. what you would need is a volt meter that plugs into your cigarette lighter i have a passport radar that you can see the voltage of the alternator its giving out, if it starts dropping to like 11 volts then the alternator stopped charging the system. And thats when your car will start bogging and turn off. thats my experience but it could be something else

your distributor rotor or cap might need replacing, spark plugs wires, sometimes MAF might start having problems, you can clean the MAF with a special spry they sell at auto stores. it could also be you battery terminals. i know the positive terminal has a red connector with 2 plugs, make sure there in good contact cause i know that one of those wires if you unplug it while the car is running it will turn off the car. also make sure grounds are all connected in the bay, and also make sure your ECU is connected properly and relays where the ECU is at and connector.

Oh and also double check if your wires that are under the driver side fender arn't chewed up by the tire that could cause problems,

Ok so yesterday took the 240 on first real drive left the city to go for a drive up the mountain it began doing it again i would be cruising 3k+ rpm and all the suede. It would stop all exhaust would i mean rpm didn't drop just somehow like stopped actually putting power to the wheels?!?!? But it would happen so i wouldn't take me foot off gas even though it was just kinda coasting all the sudden then it jumps back to power there's kinda a pull like I'm giving it the balls the. It goes back to normal for a little?!?! Please

Could your clutch be slipping? Clutches can slip then bam! grab suddenly. Try going up a medium hill at 3500 rpm in 3rd gear and give it full throttle. If it's going to slip testing like that should make it happen.

Check resistance on the battery also, like stated check your alt. Have you done anything to the car leading up to this? Repaced anything or did it just start happenimg?

Dang reading your last post now your making it sound like it is the clutch.... when it does that does the RPMS start revving up ? and then grab? either something is up with the trans or your clutch is acting weird but its kinds hard to believe its the pressure plate or disc itself...... you know what you should do... bleed your clutch, and before bleeding i would replace the slave cylinder, there not that expensive at the Auto store, i think i got one at autozone for like 12 bucks... But it almost sounds like you might have a air bubble, and also just inspect the reservoir make sure its not leaking or something.
one last thing your clutch pedal has to have a little bit of play before it starts putting pressure to the pressure plate. check that.

also it would be helpful if you could record it, so we can hear and see whats going on.

It does sound like a clutch. A bubble in the line wouldnt cause it to slip I would cause poor disengagement. Now if the clutch pedal is not adjusted properly then that could cause it to slip. Like stated above drive the car up a hill put it in 3rd and floor it. Also you could just drive about 60 down shift to 3rd and floor it it should slip then too.

When a clutch slips it
1.you push the gas to accelerate the rpms rise but the car doesnt accelerate
2. It feels kinda like when your driving in the rain and you loose traction and then it grips
3.you can usually smell the pad burning if it does it enough.

If your clutch pedal stuck to the floor there 3 normal things that happen (not saying it the only thing but the usual suspects)
1. Hydraulic system is going out.
2. Fulcrum ball is severly warn and the fork can slip off amd pop back on
3.pressure plate is f***.
