Ok so I recently acquired a 1992 s13 coupe shell , power everything, and a working HUD, but also an auto. So I pulled the old wire harness and put in my wire harness for my ca18det from my 90 hatch that was crushed by a tree. I redid the dash plug and installed my ecu bam!!! No power to the ecu at all.. So I pull it back out and in the process of that I noticed that my hud no longer works.... but one problem that I've been trying to figure out is why does my car still have power to my windows and sunroof when I remove the key from the ignition switch? And recently while I was pulling out my lower harness I accidentally hit the hot wire for the starter on the frame of my car and it sparked.. So after that it leads me to where I am now when I turn the key onto acc there is NO POWER to the ignition switch at all... some one please help me out....

Check your fuse links.

make sure your battery is still good. check your headlamps for power. check the 15a fuses in the engine bay. if its good check your engine harness. its e22 and e23 in the sohc. dont know if its different in the dohc but its the harness that connects the battery to the 15a then to your headlights. If its good I think you're wiring is wrong in the switches. it really helps to have a multimeter to troubleshoot electrical problems

All of my fuses are good, and the battery is brand new. Since there is no motor in the car I pulled the engine harness because my lights and everything should work still because all of that is in the chassis but I dont have any power to nothing not even the ignition switch. I was curious if there was a main relay or something that I should look for because I noticed that the acc relay clicks and it gets hot so I got another one and it still does the same thing so now Im just completely clueless right now....

It getting hot makes me want to believe short circuit or grounding problem. Are all of the grounds in the engine harness attached to a decent ground? Had a Chevy truck at work with weird electrical issues and it was all caused by somebody leaving some engine grounds unhooked.

I will definately try the ground thing and see if it works but I pulled my engine harness out just to eliminate that as a problem so the only thing in my engine bay is a battery and the lower harness...

Remove negative battery terminal. unplug the ignition switch harness (E108).

check continuity between terminal 2 (blue wire) of ignition switch harness and accessory relay 2 (blue wire) in engine bay near airbox. check continuity between accessory relay 2 (black wire) and body ground.

check continuity between terminal 2 (blue wire) of ignition switch harness and accessory relay 1 (blue wire) near fusebox. check continuity between accessory relay 1 (black wire) and body ground.

the blue wire powers these relays to switch them on and is also directly connected to heads up display control unit, time control unit, audio, rear window defogger relay, meter illumination.

the blue wire gets power from terminal 1 (when ignition switch is "ACC") through white wire to green fusible link (rightmost) to white wire connected to the positive battery terminal (harness terminal E22)

also check the resistance while checking continuity.

checking for body ground zerothread/159907

Im having problems uploading a pic. look for power supply routing in SOHC FSM (page EL-5)

Ok so I removed all of my old fuses and put newer ones in and it turned out to be one that was jammed in there messing things up... But I also have a couple more problems to figure out my cluster doesn't work not even the clock and also the ecu is not getting any power, and when I remove the key I can still put the windows up and down. Hopefully someone can help me out so I can get my project done alot quicker..

I missed the part that its a CA sorry. you can try tracing the wires of the power windows by looking at the color to see where it goes. it might be a different ecu but the color of the wires could be the same. wires that power the ecu are black w/ white stripe and red wire. measure the voltage. it should be battery voltage. black wires go to the ground

thanks alot for your help I got everything to work but my ignition switch is really weird. Everytime you turn the ignition switch on the wipers come on and turn off on theyre own the only time the ignition switch will turn off is if the wiper blades are up....

yeah thats crazy and everything is hooked up correctly Im just convinced that both the ignition switch and the wiper switch are busted.

well if you turn off with your wiper blades up it will definitely operate when you turn the ignition switch to "ON" until it goes down to its original position. I think your wiper switch wiring is grounded. is there a particular wiper switch position where you can turn off your ignition? like in INT or LO?

as long as the wiper blades are on the ignition switch will turn off it doesnt matter which position its in.

I havent really found a connection between the two in the circuit diagram but I have been busy lately. I'll check again when I have the time. I'll post back if I find something

can you check the b/r wire in the ignition switch. there should be no voltage when the ignition switch is "OFF" and "ACC" then turn it to "ON" it should have voltage now. start the car. keep probing that wire. turn off your car with the ignition switch. does it continue to have a voltage unless you turn your wipers on?
