Greetings! A pretty f'ed up first post I would say. A week ago I sold my monster WRX STi because I was looking for something a bit more comfortable, reliable, and tame. I searched, and searched and finally found my diamond in the rough.

2006 61,000 miles with a 3 year 36000 mile warranty.

So 5 miles out of the dealership it turns out the dealership did not torque the oil drain plug properly. As a result it fell out, all the oil was lost. I pulled over as soon as I noticed my oil light was on. I checked the dipstick it was dry. I figured ok whatever they probably just changed the oil, and forgot to top it off after pump prime. I drove it slowly about 1/4 mile to a 7/11 and purchased a quart of oil. Poured it in and it drained right out. I towed it back to the dealership. It's now sunday and no technicians will be in until monday so here I am waiting. I am pretty pissed. I don't want to return the vehicle as it is such a rarity to find a clean 350z.

Although a hasty request I'm going to ask the motor be changed. I know the dealership will fight me on this. They will likely pursue the most financially beneficial route for themselves. I don't think any real damage was caused, there was no noise, and it ran smooth on the crawl to the 7/11. I know the Vq35 is a fairly resilient motor, that being said I am by no means a professional yet. I am really here to ask what peoples thoughts are, what should I have checked? What should I request?

Ouch man that burns. How something as simple as an oil change can be screwed up I will never understand. Beautiful car though, I think you will have an uphill battle having the engine replaced but best of luck to you. 0 psi to bearings is not a good thing...

Before anything else I'd make sure they didn't strip the threads on the oil pan.

Sorry to hear about the problems, but with the warranty at least it's all on their dime! :)

I spoke with the dealership. They removed the oil pan, and checked for shavings, did a flush and rechecked no shavings etc etc. I told them that is not sufficient, and demanded a compression, and leak down test be done. I will later ask them to do a oil pressure test.

The dealership offers a 5 day return policy, I am going to demand them to extend it out a month, and I want 3 full diagnoses over the course of the next 3 months spaced months apart consisting of full flush, compression test, leak down, oil pressure, and oil analyses. I will also request that they tack cosmetics into my warranty

return it dude. an oil deprived engine will cause major problems in the future. if those clowns messed up the first time, they sure as hell well mess it up the second time.
