Helping a friend out with an oil change I noticed there is no oil filter bracket present at all. The is no way to fit an oem filter because of the lack of the bracket a smaller one has always had to be used. The oil pressure sensor is located next to the filter but ive noticed on the oil bracket there is a a pressure sensor screwed on it as well. So what happened here? Should I attempt to install a oil filter bracket and use the sensor that is screwed on the the bracket but also leave installed the one that is currently installed next to the filter at the moment? Also is the connection from the engine to the oil filter bracket suppose to be threaded or did someone add this so they can use and oil filter without the bracket? Thank you

It looks as if someone took the oil filter tree off, and they relocated the sending unit to the port beside it. The auxiliary sending unit for my glow shift gauge is there. I don't know why someone would take the tree off unless they broke it somehow

Can you provide further details on this?

Also to the port you mentioned where you currently have the auxiliary sending unit. If that unit wasnt installed would it just an empty port or would something have to be there? Just wondering if i can safely remove the oil pressure sensor to install it on the oil filter bracket.

Give me a minute to dig up a photo on the bell housing bracket. But there is a plug that goes in that port, 1/8" bsp IIRC

This is for a z31 but it will give you an idea. It bolts to the two hole directly under the oil filter, the lowest ones in your picture, and ties the block to the lower bellhousing.

Just get a used oil filter tree and install it with some silicone RTV. Someone obviously ghetto rigged that for no reason. And yes the bracket that zcar93na is referring to is missing. It bolts between the block and bellhousing to make the whole thing more rigid.

yes, there are both a passenger and driver side bracket. The driver side is 1 piece and the passenger side is 2 pieces
