so i finally got an extra engine as opposed to pulling the one out of my s13 that runs perfectly fine. picked up from another nicoclub member for just 60 bucks. plans for the build include forged pistons and rods as well as turbo but thats months from now. first thing first is to get the space waster on my engine stand and start scraping off all the home made gasket. yea, home made gasket is covering the entire long block, even the butterfly valve has this s*** on it. within the next two weeks i hope to get it at least bored over to make a nice 89.5mm. also i plan to experiment by repainting the valve cover, dont know what color yet, also repaint the block. for some reason purple isnt my color. im open to paint schemes and your harsh nico style criticism is welcome but prolly will be ignored.

after several coats of industrial sealant this is what it looks, on one of the top sides ive sanded it for about 2hrs with 80, 120, 400, 800 and 2000. its a fat pain in the a** and the end barely justifies the actuall work

so after getting off of work today i went to the hardware store and picked up a lot of diffrent grits to sand my cover. and some random name alum polish. after another 2hr sanding session i did a quick rinse just to clean it and took some blue shop towels and dried it down. each section got roughly 2-2.5 coats of polish and i think it turned out semi decent.
