Well, today my Versa hit 36,000 miles, two days shy of one year since I picked it up. I almost feel guilty, since I've had no problems with it other than the passenger airbag cover. They replaced the airbag twice (corner came back up two weeks after the first replacement), but it's been fine ever since.

So I'm hoping I just got a good one and that I won't have problems cropping up now that it's out of warranty. Of course, I'm pretty easy on cars, which helps me get good mileage, and I do keep them well-maintained.

(I do wish I'd bought mine where my daughter got hers a month ago, however. They offer a free lifetime powertrain warranty, but I suppose if both of our CVT's eventually give out at least I can afford it better than she can!)

Consider it my service to the board, EV! It'd feel better, though, with a different dealer. But I haven't had service done there since 15,000 miles and now that it's out of warranty I don't have to worry at all about taking it to my favorite mechanic. Hopefully, it won't be too often...

That's great to hear. I beleive this car is going to be very reliable down the road and through the years. Dang, you do some serious miles.

Wow...you do drive a lot of miles. My wife and I both work within 8 miles of our house, so we both have low mileage cars. We always have our warranties for the full amount of "time" as oppsed to the "mileage". We bought the extended warranty for the Versa which pretty much takes the bumper-to-bumper out to 6 years. That's pretty cool when you consider the car will be paid off in 3 years. I've never been in a situation before where I have a car totally paid for and I still have a full warranty!

Hey, thanks for telling me that! I just checked, and that's true, so I guess I have until the end of April before I'm really out of warranty!

The Nissan factory's extended warranty is quite pricey, given its total price, compared to say, the Honda Civic's - which can be brought over the internet from a Honda dealer for around $850 for 6 years/100,000 miles.

I went instead with Geico's mechnical breakdown policy, a lot cheaper with a $250 deductible and has no mileage/time limit as long as the policy is not changed.

SInce I'm planning to put in at least 16,000 miles a year in the V, I'm good for the next 2 years and within the 3/36,000 factory warranty and still got the power train warranty to 60,000 miles - which would be a good cutoff to decide whether to keep it longer or trade it in for a 2009 or 2010 Versa then.
