Hey, i was thinking about replacing my manual pop out sunroof in my s13 coupe at some point, and was wondering what i could use to get rid of it? i was hoping something a little better than welding a sheet of aluminum to the roof....it prolly too much trouble, but it is noisy and leak when washed. and HEAVY glass.-Enzo

cut the top off a non-sunroof coupe and weld in the corresponding part of it. that way the curve matches

heh..i'd uh..not go with aluminum...not exactly easy to weld and i dont think it will even weld to steel. Remember that there's also (presumably) multiple layers of steel in there, and the supports for your factory sunroof car (?) are probably different

You might want to consider the same process that Sport Compact Car Magazine used on their Project Mini Cooper. I believe that they completely removed the huge glass sunroof and filled the whole with a large piece of carbon fiber complete with weather stripping.......

I thought that it looked really nice. I can't imagine ever doing something like that myself though because I don't have the skill and I think the money to do this mod would be better spent on something else.

Think of this way Enzo, on those balmy summer nights the chicks will flock to the ride with the sunroof!

..........maybe.

Here is the link to the SCC article. Hope that helps you out a little.
