I am new at working on a nissan. HELP. I recently replaced the rings in a 1992 240sx ka24de . replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and knock sensor. I had the heads checked, all OK. The timing postion marks I made were all cleaned off when they cleaned the heads.I think I got them right with the help of this forum. I have a problem with the engine running right. At about 3000rpms I can't get any more speed. It acts like it has a speed limiter . I floor the pedal and it wont go any faster. It idles steady at about 1200 rpms .When I tried to set the rpms to 700 it runs erratic and I can't adjust the timing to 20deg. btdc. according to my timing lite it is around 60-70 deg.btdc. A cold air intake was added by the previous owner w/out a pcv valve. they have a hose running from the tube on the valve cover to the intake tube.

So you meant your car wont go more than 3000rpm, is like got stuck at 3000rpm? did the fuel pump pump gas when you floored the gas padel?

It really just sounds like a MAF issue. Just try cleaning all the prongs and stuff on the plug itself, see if that does anything. Unless you already did that, then I dont really know.

yea, i would say there's no question about it being a MAF issue, if you disconnect your MAF sensor that's exactly what your car will do. If playing witht he connections doesnt work at all try getting another pigtail froma junkyard and snipping the old one off and replacing it, if that doesnt solve it, might as well get yourself a used MAF that is known working, and if thats not it, you have deeper wiring issues.
