to make a long story short, i went to meineke this week to get a custom pipe for my hiper muffler when they told me that my oil pan was smashed like hell (i ran over some hard crap a couple weeks earlier but didn't think anything of it). so i got one from a salvage yard and after the exchange and some mobil1 high mileage oil, there is no more timing chain noise slapping around in my engine!! the guy also showed me what looked like broken up pieces from one of my timing chain guides. god is good.

so doesn't that mean you still have a timing chain that needs replacing?

my point is that i think i don't need to replace my timing chain because it doesn't make any more noise. also, the car is very queit now as opposed when the chain was flopping all over the place. i get much better acceleration now as well.
