I think one of the reasons my Q45 is in such great shape is that it probably spend it's life in a garage, at home and at work. That's what I've been doing since I found her anyway. Now I'm changing jobs and she'll be spending all day sitting out in the full sun of a parking lot.

:jawdrop:

I was thinking of buying a car cover and using that, but I've never used one and where I'm moving - Birmingham, Alabama - I don't really see people using them. Do they really work? What kind should I buy? Is it a waste of time? I'm really worried about the interior and paint.

I'd get a cover. I want one for mine since it sits outside all day, but at least I have dark tint (UV protection there!) and I use a shade on the windshield. I need a cover though. I had the Pep Boys one that costs around 75 on my last car and liked it alot.

Buy the cover. Covercraft makes a nice one for our cars, and it's well worth the $$$.

Keeps the sun off, but also protects from sap, bird poop, and meteorites. :)

Oh, here's an idea! If I used a car cover, could I leave the windows cracked to let the heat out?

Back to the thread then :argue:

I used to have a car cover but it proved to be too much of a hassle at times. I ended up not using it most of the time.

:oops sorry bout that. The car in my sig aint mine!! It's a Wald Cima from Japan. I need to get some good pics of mine to put there, but I'm leaving that one as a "role model" lol.

To the point though, I'd really recomend getting a cover, and get the cable and lock, even if you don't care about it getting "jacked" (lol!!) it will keep it from blowing off. The nice covers at Pep Boys have a nice shape, with pockets for the mirrors and fit quite well. I only wish the one I have would fit my Q!!

If you use a light colored cover, you won't need to crack the windows because it won't get that hot inside. I've religiously used covers on my cars for 16 years April-October and it really keeps them pristine, even in the Mojave Desert! If you stencil your license plate # on it large, it's less likely to be stolen.
