Hello there guys, i just want to start with how helpful this forum has been. i just purchased (more like stole) a 97 J30 from my friends mom for $2000 with only 110k on it. The timing belt has been replaced already, about 10k miles ago. Anyways, my J didnt have a CIL on, but I knew this car had to have more power than it did. So I scanned it, found the "ghost" code for a knock sensor, and after reading on this forum, I relocated it, and holy crap what a difference!!! I also have a 96 Maxima SE, thats why i figured the J had to have a bad knock sensor, because the Maxima had the same problem when I got it. Basically, i just wanted to express my appreciation to everyone on this forum for your trials and tribulations. Thanks again NICO community, YOU GUYS F-ING ROCK!!!!!!!

Sure thing, but i pretty much used the same location as gotspeed something. I was pretty remarkable how much power was lost on the VG motor with a bad knock sensor. I will take some pics though, and hopefully it will help some other folks out.

Hi, I have pulled the same code at oriellys P0325. Did you replace the Knock sensor or somehow bypass it? What is "relocate"? Thanks, Lance

If you read the topic(s) then you would know its the knock sensors: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0325. Replace them and your good to go.

Welcome to NICO.

I figured I had better post my results as well. Thanks Zach for helping guide me. First of all, My results were successful! After installing and relocating the knock sensor and clearing the codes at Oreilley's. I have no more codes and the CEL is off. Yeah!!!. Pretty easy fix, but there were a few small wrinkles along the way. I was'nt sure where the connector for the wiring harness was located which turned out to be the grey connector behind the engine on the driver side. Unfortunately the harness I bought had a different connector on the back end, so I had to solder the connector from the old harness to the new one. Not that big of a deal. Thought it was strange that there is only the white wire coming from the sensor end and white and black on the other. Turns out there is a coaxal and somewhere in the harness it joins together. I think the sensor itself is the ground, so I used the dielectric grease on the base of the Knock sensor as well as the connections. While I was at it. I went through every connection in the engine and put the grease on them. VERY IMPORTANT: do not over tighten or torque down the bolt holding down the sensor as you will crush the chrystals in the sensor AND IT IS A STEEL BOLT INTO ALUMINUM. I had to order the correct bolt M8 1.25 x 100mm plus washer and lock washer. You will not find this bolt at Home Depot or Lowes. I bought the sensor and harness from ebay. My total cost with shipping was about $45. Much better than the $750-800 the shop quoted to take apart the intake. Even if I have to change the sensor every year, still a super cheap fix. I noticed a slight increase in zip, but I could tell right away that the engine was adjusting itself. ME-SO-HAPPY!!!!!!!

here is parts number from nissan that i used to fix my ride. the knock sensor part#2206030P00 and the harness part#2407830P00. i called infiniti to get these part numbers, but i ordered them from my friends at the nissan store. aaahhhh, its nice to be in wholesale parts!!!!! but IT SUCKS working for General Motors!!! if only there cars were built like the nissans and infinitis. and yes yoda, gulf shores is like an hour away and it is hard to leave .....but the mississippi gulf coast is an awesome place too......especially topless and doorless in my jeep. hit me up if you come back....thanks everyone.
