its a 2.2, and that engine may make 240 hp like the smaller one did but it only makes like 165 torque still...

I was going to say something about that Nismofly.

In no way is the honda engine "torquey"

I think 00 to 03 are 2.2 240hp and the 04 to 05 are 2.4 260hp

the first ones were 2.0, thats where the "2000" part came from

theyre now 2.2, making same power just more torque

ok 2000-2003 were 2.0L making 240hp @ 8300 rpm (omg) and 153 torque @ 7500 rpm...so no low end anyway

2004-on are 2.2L making 240hp @ 7800 rpm, and 162 torque @ 6500 rpm

In what sense? Power? Handling? Style? Economy? Etc?

According to Nissan

You'll have to go to http://automobiles.honda.com yourself to make the comparison. Select S2000/6-sp MT and then Nissan/350Z/Base for the comparison charts.

Just check the spec sheets... both Nissan and Honda skew the availability of things like AC or power steering by rewording what their own car has to exclude what the competitor does. For instance, Honda says the S2000 has manual AC, and points out that the 350Z doesn't. This is important because, as many of you know, the 350Z has automatic AC. Nissan does the same thing with power mirrors... Nissan lists the part as "Heated Outside Mirrors" as says that they are electronically adjustable, and that the S2000's aren't. They can say that because the S2000's mirrors aren't heated.

So decide for yourself.

EDIT: Note how Nissan faults the Lambo for not having it's engine in the front... and the Vette for not having VVTC. See what I mean?

Ok, this is COMPLETELY unrelated to the thread, but Cow, your "noise blog" is a COOL idea.

I'd been thinking about doing something like that, as my S14 has all sorts of little noises to it as well, and I thought that isolating and stopping them 1 by 1 would be sorta fun.

Anyway, cool blog!

EDIT: The Redline changed in '04 for the S2k too, down to I believe 8500rpm from the original 9,000. I drove the '04, still plenty high. I think that if you want a 9,000 rpm street car, you should buy an RX-8 anyway, just because they're damned near giving the things away....

LOL, thanks HashiriyaS14. You should definately start up an S14 "noise blog." It's great because whenever you drive, you're already working on figuring out what noises are coming from where... it's not like you have to do anything but drive and later, once you've made an educated guess about where the noise is coming from, get your hands a little dirty. Of course the performance guys tend to think it's a waste of time, the audio guys seem to think rattles don't matter, but ask anyone with a daily driver and not a lot of money, and suddenly noises are all that really matters. So yeah, start up an S14 noise blog and I'll link over to it. /threadjack (Sorry Nismo_Freak!)

I guess I'll post. I first got into 240's way back in 1992. Back then it was all about honda's and dsm's. I liked the 240 because it was FR just like the porsche 944 that i had before it. Back then 240's got no respect. they were dissed, laughed at and called "slow40's" Now that they are the next so called fad (make that a fad that is 10 YEARS LATE) all these FF people are jumping on board because they didn't have the vision to see the potential of these cars back then. Don't take it personal just because you missed the boat.
