I am a new owner of a 2004 G35X...66K and very clean so I hope I made a good choice. First car I have bought in 30 years...always leased cars. I want to do my best and take care of this car, but there was no manual. Not that I always studied them for cars I have had in the past, but I've never owned an Infinity and wonder if anyone knows where I could find one for a car this year.

One immediate question is when I drive in the snow, usually seems when I am turning and the roads are slick, a light in the middle of the dash blinks and I can't see what it is. It also seems to make a sound....not the antilock, so i'm wondering what the light is.

Seems like a nice ride...even for being several years old. I would love and expect to keep it for a long time. Any other suggestions regarding proper maintainance for keeping this car in good shape are welcome.

Thanks,

Jeff

Welcome,

Its Infiniti not Infinity

I would bet that light is the "slip" light. When the car senses wheel slipage it flashes.

you should have a button on the dash somewhere that says VDC toggle it and VDC OFF should illuminate somewhere on the dash. The car is 1/2 second faster in the 1/4 mile with VDC off!

Go to the Infiniti USA web site, http://www.infinitiusa.com. In the middle of the bottom, click on "Contact Us". That will bring up a form. In the list box, "Select a topic...", the bottom item is "I want to request an Owner's Manual". Fill out the rest of the form and send if off. Since I haven't needed to get a manual this way, I don't know what the response will be.

I suspect the light is the VDC system warning you about wheel slip. VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) is Infiniti's name for electronic stability control. Until you thoroughly understand your car's handling characteristics, I wouldn't turn off VDC on a slippery surface unless it's a big parking lot with nothing nearby to hit. VDC uses selective brake applications, wheel by wheel, to keep the car pointed in the direction the steering wheel's angle indicates you want to go. If necessary, it also reduces engine output. Although VDC can't repeal the laws of physics, it does a very good job of helping you maintain control under difficult conditions. All-wheel-drive, which your G35X has, helps since it is inherently more stable than rear wheel drive. (The price you pay is more weight and drag which sap performance and increase fuel consumption.)

Thanks very much for the reply....was wondering what the VDC was all about. Makes sense now that is happens when steering through a curve. Need to get that manual.

Also....one more question...I know how the home link works on most cars. With this model, can you tell me how to set it? I'm thinking holding the remote while activated close to the sensor in the car and pushing the button. Sound right?

Thanks again !!!

You'll find the complete homelink instructions in the manual, which can be downloaded from the link posted above.

That sounds right. You may be able to get by with a 2006 manual which you can download from Infiniti's web site.

- Go to http://www.infinitiusa.com.- In the middle of the top, click on Ownership.- On the screen that comes up, click on Manuals & Guides under Owner Resources at the left side.- Select G Sedan for the vehicle and 2006 for the year. (That's the oldest choice.)- Click on Submit to get a list of manuals for this model and year.- Right click the one you want and left click Save Link As.- A dialog box will appear so that you can select a destination for the file on your computer.
