I just recently purchased a 1991 240sx hatch with a 93 redtop sr20det, the car was running okay when i bought it, No nocks, no ticking, seemed to run very smooth. (the guy who i bought it off just put the motor in so he could get some money for the car cause the actual car itself is in really really good condition. so the motor has less then 70,000 kms) but when i bought it the car had a miss fire under load sometimes at higher rpms. but today i was drving it and parked it turned it off. then later about an hour i went to drive home and no lights were working, the head lights would no pop up, no brake lights, no power locks, no dash lights, nothing, and to top it off the car ran in safe mode all the way home it wouldn't rev past like 3500 rpms. please help im new to this car so any info would be appreciated. thanks. iv checked the fuses and they all look fine.

the fail safe mode is prob because of your mass air flow sensor. Its a common problem. If you need a new one, e-mail me I will give it to you for forty withouth the pig tail. As for the light it sounds like a fuse man, Did you check all fuse boxes? And just check every single fuse just in case.

I don't know if there is a way to check them, they are all relays.I really am stumped....Its gotta be in the fuse box next to the throttle body. Thats where power from the battery goes to all accessories like lights and such. Is your battery re-located?

My Battery is in the trunk, not sure if that is the stock location.... and iv checked all those fuses too, maybe a relay is dead, but how can you tell which one they all look fine, no burns on them or anything...

I really have no idea how to check them.Check the wiring of the battery to the fuse box. A connection may have came loose.

If it wasnt for your power locks It could be your switch on the column.

ya i know i read that thread on the switch in the column, but when i press the button on my key fob it makes a little clicking noise inside the car but doesn't open them, but in the car non of the buttons work on the door or any on the dash inside the car. I hate electrical problems! anyone have any idea as to wtf is wrong with my car?

Is your check engine light on? If so, read and decipher the codes and give us some feed back. I found this article that shows how to check your fuses, hopefully this will help. http://www.ehow.com/how_455189....htmlAlso, you need a diagram for your car that shows which fuses operate what and the required amperage. I wrestled with the headlights on one of our cars for two days before I realized that I had a 20 amp fuse in a 30 amp slot. I replaced it and it fixed the problem. This article shows you how to check your relays. http://www.ehow.com/how_442188....html

Good luck.
