Hello all,

Just got a call from the wife telling me when she took her car to work this morning, there was a "no key" indication at start-up and all the way there, even though the start sequence worked properly with the push button. When she got there, she attempted a restart, and had the same message, but this time, no start. Told her about pulling the key from the fob and using it in the slot, which we have never needed to do before, and she will try at lunch.

Battery was changed a few weeks ago.

Anyone shared this experience? The first start with a "no key" indication is mysterious.

Best wishes.

Sorry, never had this problem but I'm hoping it works in the dash. Fyi, you can just take your fob and push it into the slot in the dash. No need to pull the key out.

Mine has been finicky from time to time. Does she by chance keep the fob in her purse, which may end up in the passenger or even backseat?

Thanks for the replys. Forgot the key does not need to come out of the fob and will remind her. Also, fob always hangs on her purse, which sits at her side.

Learned the hard way right after we got the Coupe that the fob can be too far from the sensors and locked in the car. The fob was in a ski jacket that got tossed deep into the trunk and the system did not sense it when the trunk closed. Fortunately the back seats were down for skis and when the locksmith popped the drive door open and the alarm went off, we were able to find the key and turn off the alarm before the car went into shut-down. Took some planning before we went in.

While I was composing this, Zita called and had pulled the key from the fob (as I mistakenly told her earlier) put just the key into the slot ("Gee, it seemed like a loose fit) and the car started normally w/o a no-key message. Obviously the key alone does nothing, so the car probably sensed the fob. I'll try a new battery.

Thanks again.

Hmmm...

Car came home without incident and no issues. Proper start sequence and all seems well.

Apologies for making a fuss over what ,it's have been some kind of one off situation.

Best wishes and Happy New Year all.
