I don't understand why the ipod is not charged in the '09 LE? I have an '09 GT-R and it charges just fine with the identical audio and nav system. I saw today on the screen that "charging is not supported with this accessory". I have seen that there is a product to correct this, but I am thinking there has to be a programming solution or something. It is for a brand new Nano, so it is very up to date.

Got this answered on another forum:

The root of it is that Apple has stopped supporting the Firewire charging pin in their hardware, so any accessory that charges with firewire power instead of USB power no longer charges the new apple products.

No software change to fix this, it has to be hardware as the different charging pins on your ipod are in different locations of the plug and require different power inputs.

Accessory manufacturers used the Firewire charging pin because it provided faster charging and was cheaper to manufacture than USB power, but now they realize that Apple was actually serious about their warnings that they were going to stop supporting firewire.

Here is the solution:

Wonderful! Great find, and your information is appreciated. I was wondering how to resolve the whole charging issue for our iPod as charging was not supported on our LE. Again, thanks for the link.

There are some complaints about that adapter having noise or feedback on it when used, so it is not a perfect solution. Some have switched back to older models to keep the charging. Hopefully an adapter can be made with no noise or sound deterioration.

Thanks for that update. Now I'm wondering if it is worth spending the $'s for this. Just how obvious is the noise, is it exceptionally loud and annoying?

Here are a few other options, these are all suggested by Nissan to charge your devices.

Here you go guys, this adapter will allow your newer generation iPhone and iPods to charge using your iPod Interface. Here is the link. You can purchase at Amazon.com for $24.95.http://scosche.com/products/productID/1667

Here are two other options as well:
