no ignition, no spark

i have an 89 240sx that i was doing a dohc swap on and when i went to fire it up my ignition wasnt there. then later found out the piston rings were bad... i wanted to just get my car running again so i put the single cam back in it and now im not getting any spark and my ignition is still not working. i have to go under the hood and touch my wrench to my starter to bypass the ignition but i need the ignition back and need to kno why im not getting any spark. please help

in the process of all this my stereo was stolen and there were some wires all cut up.. could this have anything to do with it? and i noticed some wires under the steering column, red, yellow,green, and orange, that werent connected to anything. please help i gotta get my 240 goin again
