Well the topic isn't as bad as it seems, or is it?

Basically, the car will finally start at this point. It will idle below 500rpms, and jump. Stay alive for about 3-6 seconds, then die. I finally got it to crank, after it shut off on me twice. When it started to cut off, I pulled up to a stop sign and it idle'd between 400-700 up and down, up and down. I got to my buddys house, and then it wouldn't crank at all. I replaced the fuse for the fuel pump because it was blown. Then we finally adjusted the timing right to get it to crank. And now it does that. Won't stay alive, And when i give it gas, it dies right out. Idles between 400-700 up and down up and down, then dies. Gas or not. With the MAF unplugged, it will idle right at 500, then i gas it, and dead. I just stuck a 96' KA into my 92' body. Everything was fine all day, then this happened. I am using, the 92' Intake, 92' Airbox/Intake to Throttle body. 92' Injectors. 92' Maf. And the fuel pump/lines from pump.

Everytime i give it gas, it dies. It won't idle, It rough idles, if anything. Took me forever to get it to crank. Takes forever for it to crank. It won't stay alive with the MAF unplugged, or plugged. It dies after 5-6 seconds. Period.

Anything sound familiar?

1st question is, did it ever run right to begin with..? when it was running right, how long did it run good for b4 this issue popped up..? my buddy did a motor swap a few weeks ago and we could not get it started.. it would crank and crank but no starting. after several attempts to start, it would start up and idle like total crap for a few sec and fall on its face. start her back up again and once we got it running, he hit the gas and it stalled right out...what he forgot was 2 ground wires on the head... back where the exhaust manifold is by the #4 side.. there was 2 ground rings that needed to be grounded and he forgot them.once he tied them down... the motor started right up and purred like a cat... BUT im not sure if this helps or not cause i dont know if this issue is a result of a motor swap or just out of the blue for u...

Heh, the guy that mostly did the swap... After the swap, my KA cranked over the in the first 2 tries, No lie.

I got this problem resolved.

If your Fuse to the Fuel Pump is blown, The fuel pump is out. We replaced the fuel pump, and the car cranked right up. First try.

The car is running fine, but now i am still having that jumping idling problem. I'm thinking i fouled the plugs. Anyone else have an issue with the idling jumping, and it being right around 500? The car won't die, It just don't idle right, To low.

Cleaned the throttle body with Intake/Throttle Body cleaner.

The car never ran better!

If you're having this same issue. Or if the car feels like it is bogging at low rpms or it seems like it is just not getting power, Your fuel pump definitly needs to be replaced. I would also recommend cleaning the Throttle Body out good and through.

A jumping or low idle can also be traced to the iacv on the bottom the the intake manifold, they tend to get gunked up over time.
