No guages and now no tailights. (be a hero and solve this!)

i pulled the head unit out to re-do the memory wire and when i but it back in the little red batterly light was lit up real dim, and now the car has no guages, the motor runs and idols, but no guages, and when you put the blinker on its really fast.. like it has no ground thats what bmw's do.

so im asking for some help

conditions: Car started no guagesthe ST turn signal fuse has no voltage.thats it everything else has it, even under the hood.

I took out the fuse box and there was some relays behind there. what are they? well thanks for any advice. and im coming from KA-T so im not totall newthanks again.

Sounds like you need to remove the radio and see if the problems go away maybe not wired corectly? Sounds like you have a bad ground that is backfeeding through your instrument cluster. Anyhow for the turnsignal blinking really fast maybe you just have a burned filament in one of your turnsignals. Also post all the info like what type of car, year, etc.

i will try to remove the radio for like the third time tomarrow and see what happens, thats the road i was going down sooner or later. but thanks alot. any other ideas?

sounds like you fried your dimmer switch maybe fuses also. gotta follow a wiring diaram. i know a lot of people on s13s blow something in the driver side some white box.

so the dimmer switch is part of the gauge system?

also the whire box behind the fuses might be it to? are those year specific?thanks alot!

and number of what relay is in control of the gauges exactly?

i knoow about the dimmer switch because i got an s14 with incorrectly wired radio which caused me not to have lights. and a friend of mine bought an s13 with the blown little box. he actually opened it up and soldered it. its a computer board inside and one of the lines burns out.
