Howdy forums. Been a while, as I've been battling Q45 woes and working. Anyways, my Q is sitting in Jemison, AL. According to the mechanic it was towed to, he cannot get any fuel or spark and, thus, no turn over.
But first, a little history:
First, we had replaced the fuel pump with a used, high-mileage unit. Basically put it in just to limp the car home from Birmingham. After about 150 miles of smooth operation on I-65 S., the car began hicupping and shutting off. After 5 or 10 minutes 'cooling off' on the side of the highway, she'd start back up and drive another 100 miles. It stopped for the last time just outside of Montgomery. I put my hand on the fuel control module and it was nowhere near hot. After my brother picked me up two hours later (Oh, and everyone should try sleeping on the side of the Interstate at 5:00 in the morning), we had the car towed. The first shop we went to took a week to even look at her and didn't seem very eager to get started after that. We went to a large independent dealership who's name I can't recall and they towed the car to their service center the next day. The mechanics seemed compotent and ready to work, and that's half the battle, right. They established that the fuel pump IS indeed pumping fuel They've been asking about some of the previous work on the car after they've found a few poorly spliced wires under the dash. Long story short, they're now reporting no fuel and no spark and looking for a good, factory ECU to try on our Q.
And here's where you come in, NICOClub!
Any ideas on a diagnosis? Is there something we or the mechanics might be missing? Any common issues in the ignition or fuel system we should know about? Should I just take it to T3 and call it done? Anyone want to buy a Q45?
