1996 s14 with s13 blacktop SR. I was driving normally and heard what sounded like a small back fire. The car stalled and would not restart. The fuel pump has no power but I have tested it and it works. I have checked all the fuses and they are good. I have tried a different ECU as well and still nothing. I can see no fuel or no spark but both at the same time has me scratching my head. I currently have the fuel pump running of another power source with a toggle switch and it works but that still hasnt fixed the spark or the fuel pump for that matter, it's just a band aid. Help please.

Sounds like maybe your CAS (distributor looking thing) may have gone bad. It has the crank and cam angle sensors kind of built-in. If that fails, then spark and/or fuel will not be given due to the failure.

Regardless of the CAS: your ECU should always prime the pump prior to starting. Swap you fuel-pump relay with another of the same type(color) that isn't as critical (ie air cond, fans, etc).

Make sure the ECU is getting the correct signals from the keyswitch for RUN->START.
