see the flashy red button up top? its your friend. Put in a search named Fuse Relay and the listings in that will prolly answer your questions.. No problem

its a fuse, had it happen to my 89, i think it was the dome light fuse but it controls radio, dome light, auto belts, clock - i believe its just a 10amp fuse, try looking for a blown one

I've having this same problem. The fuse indeed was blown but I've replaced it.However now I notice I have a short because when I open the doors the dome lights don't come on and the clock goes out. Also when I turn on the dome lights with the doors closed they don't work and the clock goes off..

I installed a new dash last weekend so I'm pretty sure that's causing the short but if it isn't a fuse (it's like the 1st 10 amp fuse on the right side under the two 20's for the blower I'm pretty sure) then you are in for a hard time of troubleshooting.

Yesterday when I got in my car to leave work I noticed the same problem. The background of the digital clock was lit but there was no numbers showing. I also noticed that my programmed radio stations wereno longer programed and the dome light was not working. I drove about 10 miles to get gas and the seat belt would not open and the clock was still off. I got up the next morning and opened the door and the seat belt seemed to work but the clock was off.

I got on here and found this post. Sure enough the third fuse down (10A) on the right hand side in the fuse box near the clutch pedal was blown. I replaced it and everythign seems to be working fine now.

When I drove into work this morning, the problem arose again, so I seem to have blown another fuse. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? I also notice an odd smell the first time this happened and again today after I replaced the fuse and started the car. 240Hawaii mentioned something about the alternator not being grounded and a 75 amp alt fuse. Where is this located?

Yes, I also have an 89 and had the same problems EXACTLY. It turned that the bottom bolt on the alt. had fallen out. It wasnt grounding right and kept blowing the 75 alt. fuse. ( Located in the fuse box right behing the battery)

So it is either that your alternator is overcharging the system or isnt ground correctly. Disconnect your battery and make sure all the bolts, and wires are snug on the alternator.

If they are I would take your car down to kragen or any parts store and have them test the alternator. This is usually free and will tell you if your alternator is the problem or if it is a short.
