no diagnostic screw on ecu 01 max

I've been reading how to get your car to flash trouble codes on an 01 maxima. I scanned it sunday with an obd II scanner tool and it showed no codes. Tonight I finally got the car to run at idle and it threw a code. Since I took the obdII scanner back to autozone I decided to go through the process of the whole turn the screw counterclockwise process and I found that there is no diag screw on my ecu. Is there another way to check this. Autozone is closed at the moment.

The screws are present through the 99 year model.

00 and up, I would suggest going to your local AutoZone, or other regional parts store, and getting your codes read for free.
