Hey gang... G no cranky so, I replaced starter (remanu) and got a new battery. (old one was under warranty but I think it was fine). G won't turn over if car has been driven for 20 - 30 mins. Once it cools down - cranks right over?!! When no crank, I did a voltage drop test on starter post with other lead grounded on starter case. Attempted to start - no voltage change at all! Volt meter read 12.65V before turning ignition and 12.65V while turning ignition. How do I test the lead that comes from the ignition at the starter?? Everything lights up, no loss of voltage when attempting to crank at battery and post clamps. No loss between battery post and batter clamps. Engine has never died... just won't crank if driven for bit - takes 30 mins or more to cool down. Killing me!!! Please bail me out of a dealership trip!! Thank you, thank you!!

Just keep replacing parts. After you replace them all and it still doesn't start you can have it towed to a dealer and for a nominal fee they will identify the problem for you.

Did you ever consider checking out the FSM?

Good luck

Well, where's the fun in that?? You must have or work for a nearby and helpful dealer in Jersey. Not in my neck. I did score a new battery for nada (that's spanish for "free"). Ok... tks for the help.

My apologies for being sarcastic!

You don't mention the year or model of your G and its mileage. The FSM is the place to start your troubleshooting.
There is an interlock switch on the clutch for a MT as well as interlock switches in Park and the brake pedal on automatic transmissions.
Your reluctance to use the services and knowledge of a local Infiniti dealer and the FSM is obviously costing you money, time, and frustration.
A dealer may be already familiar with this problem and perhaps not even charge for the fix.
Did you ever even try calling the local service manager to inquire if he has ever encountered this problem with your year and model?

One more question.

Is your vehicle a salvage vehicle that was ever involved in a flood or serious accident?

Good luck

Yeah, FSM would be the place to start when tracing the ignition system.

I really do appreciate your time and help!! I've got an 2005 G35x Sedan , 157k miles. Automatic (so no cluch switch). I've tried starting in Neutral, but I'll look at that again, tks!! No salvage but just got it home (3 weeks ago) after a significant crunch. Both doors and rear quarter panel replaced, driver's side. FOB is acting strange ever since. Rapid beeps whenever get into car with FOB, discovered this eve that the automatic trunk unlock doesn't work if FOB is left in trunk. My no-crank is so sporadic and random. I appreciate the link to FSM and discovered the SC section is probably what I should be reading. Yes... i called my Infiniti Service dept twice. Just not at all helpful or interested in helping over the phone. One call they suggested it was the battery in the FOB... so i played along and got a new little battery. I get it... they make no money in helping but they have full schedules so not bleeding for the biz either. Ok... I'll post updates. Tks again for the time - expertise!! -r

Update... there is no power getting down to the "S" connecter. (the connection from the ignition switch which completes the circuit). I pulled out and tested the Starter Relay and seems fine. The audible click from inside the switch closing when I apply power and very low resistance on the other prongs (4 - plug type relay). I guess that leaves either the Ignition Switch or the wire harness. Since I have an issue with FOB - my question would be is how can you tell if the car is "locking me out" so it won't start?? It seems to recognize the key - green "key" light on cluster - allows me to turn ignition - locks, unlocks doors. I just get the rapid beepbeepbeep warning when I get in and close the door with the FOB. Suggestions, feedback, laughter, mocking?!?! Thank you!

So if anyone here cares... Problem solved!! Turns out it was relay in the IPDM. Put in new relay and we're off and running!!! Gave up and took it in. I have to give props to the dealership... correct diagnosis - pleasant, washed my car =) tks for all input.
